"For ten years our commitment has been to educate and offer our patients the widest range of treatment options and technologies available. In order to meet this commitment, we work with emerging surgical procedures at every phrase of study from pre-clinical trials to post-market approval evaluations," states Dr. Chu. In many FDA studies, Chu Vision Institute is among the first participating centers across the country. Chu Vision Institute was the first in the world to use a specific new lens implant technology for patients who were unable to undergo LASIK surgery.
"The most exciting new technology in our clinic has to do with lens implants for people with cataracts or who have undergone cataract surgery," Chu says, explaining that cataract surgery has evolved significantly over the last 40 years. "In our grandparents' generation, there were no implants. Incisions were large, and patients needed big, thick glasses after surgery. In the short period of time since, incisions became smaller. The use of implants eliminated thick glasses for distance vision, but patients still needed reading glasses. Today, lens implant techniques involve even smaller incisions and are able to restore both distance and reading vision."
Chu established his practice "to provide a more individualized, patient-centered, concierge-level experience for patients," he explains reflectively. "As healthcare becomes more administratively driven, with larger and larger group practices, it is easy for patients to feel lost. Our practice is focused on three aspects: personalized patient care, education, and bringing the latest technology to the local community through research. We are very pleased to be celebrating our 10th anniversary and wish to thank our patients for placing their trust in us!
Sincerely,
Y. Ralph Chu, M.D.
